Central Florida: a storehouse of new talents and opportunities

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 89.5 percent of the adults in Orlando and surroundings are high school graduates and 32.9 percent hold at least a bachelor’s degree. Those are substantial numbers!

The fields of studies could not be broader, covering arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, applied sciences and so on. You name a field of studies and you will certainly find an institution offering it. With almost 200,000 enrollments in 2015, a wide selection of programs – short-term certificates, undergrad, associates, bachelors, masters and doctorate – is available. In the year ending June 2015 more than 53,000 students graduated from these institutions.

Everest University – South Orlando = popular degree options are in nursing, medical assisting, business administration, and paralegal studies. Enrollment in 2015 = 9,364 students;

 

Florida Technical College = prepares students for careers in computer technology, business, criminal justice, and health care. The student population included 4,575 students in 2015;

 

Full Sail University (Winter Park) = with more than 20,000 students, its programs are designed for the world of entertainment, media, arts, and technology;

 

Lake Sumter State College = offers degrees in Applied Science, Science, vocational and technical certificates as well as Organizational Management. Enrollment in 2015 = 4,641 students;

 

Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts = with more than 900 students, it is a culinary and hospitality training school and an affiliate of Le Cordon Bleu Schools North America;

 

Mid Florida Tech = with an enrollment of 2,632 students, it offers programs in advanced automotive technology, digital media and multimedia design, hotel and resort business management, and wastewater treatment technologies;

 

Rollins College = with 3,260 students, the most popular offered programs include business management, psychology, international business, English, economics, organizational communications, international relations, and human resources;

 

Seminole State College of Florida (Sanford) = with almost 18,000 students, offers programs such as liberal arts and sciences, EMT paramedic, registered nursing, criminal justice and police, firefighting, accounting technology, executive secretary and licensed practical nurse;

 

University of Central Florida = as the largest school in the state of Florida, it offers one of the widest selections of undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, and certificate programs. As of 2015, enrollment included almost 63,000 students, and popular degrees are in accounting, civil engineering, computer science, nursing, and other popular disciplines;

 

University of Phoenix – Central Florida Campus = with almost 2,400 students, offers programs in fields such as business, criminal justice, education and nursing. Also, it offers MBA programs in areas as global management or public administration;

 

Universal Technical Institute – Orlando = offers programs such as automotive, collision repair, diesel, marine, motorcycle, CNC machine and welding. Enrollment in 2015 = 2,766 students;

 

Valencia College = it offers a wide range of standalone associate degrees, plus transfer programs that prepare students for the transition to a four-year school. With an enrollment of 44,050 students in 2015, the most popular programs are in fields such as criminal justice, health care, business administration, and paralegal studies;

 

Winter Park Tech = the most popular programs include medical assistant, dialysis tech, nursing assistant, computer systems tech, desktop publishing and imaging. Enrollment in 2015 = 1,313 students;

 

All this to prove that Orlando offers a good dose of family fun on its parks and attractions, along with a healthy and growing economy for workers and investors.
